The printer design flaw fact or fiction. After reading quite a few posts from clueless "technicians" about the Dura Brite printers and how the printer has a design flaw and it was done on purpose shows where the hacks and real techs part ways. A few things to think about. 1. People want cheap. You can't have have quality and cheap. It's like military intelligence. You simply cannot have both. 2. You MUST use a ink jet printer. Any ink based printer will dry out and clog if you do not use them. 3. It's not a good to leave your printer on. Some people believe that it is a good idea to leave your printer on because turning it on and off wastes ink. This creates two problems. Heat can build up in the printer which promotes the ink in the print head and at the nozzle plate to dry faster. And the cleaning cycle that is initiated at the printer start up CLEANS the print head. So by leaving the printer on the cleaning cycle is not initated can help create clogs. On to the "design flaw" As you know by now the Dura Brite printers are prone to ink purge tube clogs. Or rather it is known now. A while back a few (very few) people noticed the ink purge tube would pop off the cap assembly. Later those same few noticed that the purge tube would clog in one or more places. Now here is where the hacks and real techs part ways. The hacks are claiming there is a design flaw in the printer and Epson knows that but has done nothing about it. The truth is Epson did a reformulation of the ink. it was called Dura Brite Ultra. This did not prove effective and Epson abandoned the Dura brite line for the Claira line. The new ink is too new at this point to see if the problem has been resolved. The real techs saw from the start of the clogging problem that the ink was the problem and not a design flaw. You can view our Dura Brite page for more info. The more they saw the same problem the more proof that had that the ink was the cause of the issue. |
